Silent Warrior, Beautiful Warrior

As a child, I learnt ways to drown out the noise on the outside by managing the noise on the inside. Pain never showed on my face.

Tears, clear like water, reflect the distortion of pain as it flows like a river. Eventually, those tears run dry and the proof disappears but the pain remains. Yet even though you no longer see it, I still feel it.

To prove something without evidence is hard enough. For me, it was always easier to suffer in silence.

With eyes, covered by the neat chaos of my afro-curls, and lips, softly muted.

Though my pain is not silent. And the weight of my crown is also the very strength that covers me.
